Today is the twenty-third of the twelfth month by
the lunar calendar and called Little New Year. Before breakfast I began
kneading dough for making dumplings later for son. I saw that the dough was
mixed soft. After having a hasty breakfast, I started chopping pork and a part
of a cabbage as stuffing for jiaozi. Yesterday I specially bought a bottle of
vinegar for dipping in when mother and son eating dumplings during the Spring Festival.

sprouted spring grass seems to have been turning into carpets.

春，草吐新芽渐似茵，

In
the first rays of the morning sun, the dirt paths have been dyed green.

晨曦里，绿掩陌间尘。The banks
are in a green shade of the thin drooping willow twigs,春，柳线拂堤碧色匀，Which
are so intoxicating when swaying in a sudden breeze.

斜风起，舞醉觅芳人。

I didn’t arrive at the Second Primary School
attached to the Northeast Normal University until 10 o’clock although I had started
off since after 6 o’clock. I was sent there attending the lectures on calligraphy by
some famous teachers. The first thing I did was to sign in. In the morning I sat
in on three classes; in the afternoon I visited two more. All lectures were
about the techniques of brush writing and all teachings chose Ouyang Xun’s works as models
for copying. The stroke consisting of vertical, then curved and finally hook
ones was first analyzed and taught by a woman teacher. Another teacher stressed
that every character has its primary part and secondary section.

Last night as I approached our flat I was caught in the first snow-fall after the Frost’s Descent , which was transient with large flakes. It snowed again today without leaving any marks on the ground.
She couldn’t tolerate her husband’s ignoring his responsibilities for their family and dedication to helping others. She wished a divorce from her husband. But finally she reconciled herself with him by mediation. The mediators persuaded him to deal with the relation between his family and his career properly. He should willingly share the responsibility of holding their family together with his wife. As for the wife, she should be more considerate towards her husband and not to be hard again.

risen to over￥30 half a kilogram.

It cools down further when overcast or rainy. The sunshine becomes lovely and expected. The room I stay in alone at school gets a little cold for the time being. The high pines with dense heads in front of it block most of the sunlight. People have put on thicker and deep colored clothes. And flies have obviously diminished. It is unnecessary to open the north windows because the room doesn’t feel stuffy any more. Soon we’ll be required to pay for the supply of central heating. The workers of the heat supply company are being seen checking and rebuilding underground heating pipes in the street.
